finally arriving in Ruitelan in the evening after more than 40 km walking
July 25th From Ruitelan via Herrerias, La Faba, Laguna de Castilla, O Cebreiro, Hospital da Condesa over the 1337 m pass of Alto de Poiotos to Fonfria.
climbing up and up and up to La Faba and O Cebreiro - beautiful view, but a little "hill" before that.
July 26th from Fonfria via Filloval, Tricastella, taking the Samos monastery route to Sarria. A deviation, but Samos is definitely worth a visit. This route is 6 km longer than the "normal" Camino, but if you like modern art and an old monastery, you shoult take this route.
Giacomo from Italy walks with us to Samos. He is an expert in Japanese Anime and knows all Ghibly movies in detail - we are surprised.

July 27th Sarria via Barbadelo, Ferreiros, Mercadoiro, Portomarin to Gonzar. In Sarria many "day pack" or "plastic bag" pelegrinos start their Camino. So it gets crowded from here. Thats why we choose NOT to stay in Portomarin where all the kids stay, but kept walking 8 km more to the quiet village of Gonzar. Good private albergue in an old farm house.
