Camino_2013

Carrion de los Condes - the famous food in the village is "Morcilla de Arroz" a kind of fried blood sausage but different from the German one. The "Morcilla" contains rice and onions and herbs - very delicious.
Early morning we meet Jen from Korea and Dullan Fuller from Vancouver again. Jen already planned her visit to Japan and hopefully we can visit her in Korea soon. After meeting Della, Vancouver got on my "must see" list in travel destinations.

July 17th From Carrion de los Condes via Calzadilla de la Cueza, Ledigos, Terradillos de los Templarios to Moratinos
we had just planned for that day to go to Teradillos de los Templarios (in German Tempelritter), but didn't like the albergue there and the one in the next village was run by an italian cook! So let the food decide.
In the italian alberge- Tim and Jana are there and we meet two other Germans, David and Julia. All the other visitors are Italians. Tims hobby is rowing a boat and he found an italian friend with the same hobby.
18. Juli Maratinos via San Nicolas, Sahagun, taking the Calzada Romana route via Calzadilla de los Hermanillos to Reliegos, tough 42 km walk in the summer heat. If you take this route, make sure to have enough water. From Calzadilla to Hermannillos its 18 km with no village and no water. Really through the middle of nowhere land. If in doubt, dont take this "hard route".
Near Calzadilla de los Hermanillos we met a tour guide from a chinese Group (mainly from Singapore). Not Pelegrinos, but they were visiting the places where the movie "My Way" (Mein Weg) was filmed.
Part of the movie was made on this lonely side road of the Camino (Calzada Romana). Not many people walking there.
Here we met Stefan from Germany and again Susumu from Japan. Stefan decides to keep on walking with us. We hope to meet him again in Germany soon. He seems to have some tiny problems with his foot, but keeps on walking. He and Sebastian continue walking with us. That means after 24 km walking in the morning start another 18 km walk at 15 in the afternoon. 18km without any village in between. Through the meseta heat.
a little cloud covering the sun for a short moment can bring great happiness
finally arriving at Religios. As there is no Hospitalero, we do all the checking in by ourselfes. Find a bed an sleep and leave some money in the book on the table.
July 19th from Reliegos via Mansilla de las Mulas, Puente de Villarente, Arcahueja to Leon
Leon - finally a city again with a big cathedral, good restaurants and shops
July 20th from Leon via La Virgen del Camino to Villar de Mazarife
Albergue de Jesus, famous for the graffity. And the 1 liter beer in the supermarket was just 1,24 Euro - incredible. For one Liter ! ! !
