Dear camino friends - thank you for sharing a wonderful time on the camino with us. We started July 1rst in Saint Jean Pied de Port, arrived in Santiago July 30th (820km), then walked 3 days to Muxia (90km) and from there another day the 30 km to the lighthouse of Finisterra (Aug. 3rd). With some alternative Routes (calzada Romana, Ramos Monastery etc) included, the total was more than 940 km. Average 27,6 km walking per day, drinking lots of beer, eating good food AND still loosing lots of weigh! Having lots of fun and best of all was meeting YOU ! ! ! from all over the world. June 29, leaving home in Tokyo - British Airways changing planes in London, arriving in Madrid at midnight and taking the night bus at 1.40 in the morning from Madrid airport to Pamplona. |

From Pamplona we took a bus to Sain Jean Pied de Port in France. This bus runs only in Summer. Bus goes Pamplona (=Iruna) - Roncesvalles - Saint Jean Pied de Port - Bayonne and back. July 2nd, leaving Roncesvalles (it says only 790km left to Santiago) going up and down to Zubiri. On the way we met Sophie Akponemey from Paris who had just quit her job in Paris spending some time on the camino before starting her new job in Toulouse. Good public Alberge in Zubiri. | |||
July 3rd from Zubiri passing Irotz and Pamplona to Cizur Menor. As it is hot in the daytime, we started walking at 6.00 in the morning and at 8.00 we had pizza for breakfast. On the way we met Sophie from Paris again. | |||
Cizur Menor - in the public alberge we met Manuela from Brasil and her brother. Please send us the photo from the crossing of the Pyrenee Mountains. Also other pilgrims who have a picture from the top of the mountain with a good view - pls. mail us the photo. We just stood in the middle of nowhere with clouds and fog all around. July 4th from Cizur Menor via Zaraqulegui, Puerto del Perdon, Obanos to Puente la Reina staying in alberge Santiago Apostol, 450m extra walk uphill and 450m back, but the alberge has a free swimming pool.
